Obituary of DaVon Learson-Shafer

Davon Julius Learson-Shafer was born September 10, 1986 to Tonya Shafer and Vaughn Learson in Sacramento, CA. Davon attended Woodbine Elementary School and John Still Middle School. He also attended Luther Burbank High School where he played football for two years. Then he attended Kennedy High School where he graduated in 2004. After graduating from high school he attended Sacramento City College. He then played semi-pro football for the West Sacramento Wolverines. Davon was a great father. He loved his kids with all his heart. He also love sports and was very athletic in both football and basketball. He had a passion for cooking. But the love that he had for his kids outweighed them all. He loved them more than life itself. He was a gentle giant. Davon met Kayla and they had their son Kavion November 9, 2006. He met and married his wife Kenya on January 30, 2014 and to this union their daughter Kwale was born February 27, 2014. He worked many jobs in past years. Most included the Sacramento Airport, Valpro Paint Company and Armed Security. His most recent career was as a Truck Driver for BMC. He was only there for a year, but he loved his job. Davon is survived by his wife Kenya, son Kavion, daughter Kwale, step-brother Zion, parents Vaughn Learson and Tonya Shafer, brothers Vaughn Jr. and Ronald, two nieces, two nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Davon was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Henry Learson, Mrs. Carol Kirtz & Mr. William Cook.
