I knew Susan since 1984 when she hired me at Hamilton-Madison House. She was a humble, loving and caring person who dedicated her life to The Chinese community in every sense of the word. She helped anyone who needed help, created programs when there was no money and inspired others to do the same.We always kept in touch ,FaceTime was our visits when she no longer came to New York.I will miss her.I know that her soul will rest in peace.

Q: How did you meet Susan?
A: Susan (Pon) Chan is my oldest sister, #1 out of four sisters #2 out of 8 siblings. Born 1938 in Toisan China and did not get to meet her till about 1962. My mom always told us we had a sister in Hong Kong. She was unable to migrate to America with the rest of the family in 1951 and she felt abandoned. She had a hard life and finally she made it to the USA to be reunited with her family. That path made her who she is, she led a very extraordinary life, very successful, intelligent and traveled the world. She was loved by her family and all the people whose paths she crossed. She will be missed tremendously. She has reunited with my parents and two brothers.
