Obituary
Alejandrina Castillo Raquel, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 7,
2025, in Sacramento, California. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, and was
the youngest of three sisters.
Alejandrina earned her Bachelor of Education and dedicated 29 years of her life to teaching in the public school
system in the Philippines. At the age of 50, she moved to the United States, where she continued her passion for
service by working for the California State Library, Braille and Talking Book Library, until the age of 83. In her
spare time, she found joy in cooking and tending to her beautiful gardens.
She is survived by her two daughters, Aniceta and her husband Graciano Casis, and CeAnn and her husband
Eric Ruta; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Rhiannon, and her husband Mark Cummings; three great-
grandchildren, Harper, Landon, and Riley Cummings; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, followed by
interment at Sacramento Memorial Lawn.
