Obituary of Frances Elaine Hill
Francis Elaine Hill (“Elaine”) was born January 30, 1936, in Pottawatomie, Oklahoma to Vernal and Viola (Denson) Osborn. She entered eternal rest at her Sacramento home on July 6, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, her brother Vernal (“Fred”), daughter Nanette (David) and her daughter in law Tammy (Michael).
Elaine is survived by sons Michael and James, daughter Jan; son-in-law, David; grandchildren,Casey, Merrie (Victor), Courtney, Emily, Jessica (Michael), Jeremiah, Leon (Jenn), Stephanie (Leon),Stacy (Todd), as well as 11 great-grandkids, 3 great-great-grandkids, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Although Elaine dedicated more than 30 years at H&R Block as a tax advisor, her most notable title was being Don’s “Chicky Babe” for almost seven decades. While Elaine loved helping others whether it be with taxes, playing bingo at the retirement homes, or fundraisers, her true happiness came from having her family. Unless Don and Elaine were out traveling with their friends on annual
cruises or long-distance motorcycle rides, there weren’t many evenings at her home that the smell of a home cooked meal didn’t waft through the air. She was known as the ‘Rock’ of our family, always ensuring we had full bellies, brains (Jeopardy on the tv every night!), and hearts.
She loved to host large family gatherings for every holiday, often dressing and curling the girls’ hair herself with those hard plastic curlers we had to learn to sleep on. Even if the event wasn’t at her house, you could always find her organizing and directing, and no one dared to try and stop her! Annual camping trips were a staple among her grandchildren and great-grandchildren where you could always find a seat next to her and learn to play Uno, Skip-Bo, Phase 10, or Tri-Ominos. Elaine went to many school events and graduations, always making sure we knew she was proud of us all. She is already greatly missed.
