Lawrence Earl “Larry” Shaltes passed away on January 31, 2026, at Sutter Medical

Center Roseville after a brief illness. He was born on August 8, 1958, in Sacramento

CA to Erwin and Carol Shaltes, the 5 th of 8 children.

He was a devoted and loyal fan of the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team. He was

an avid bass guitar player and played in two bands – Funguy and Coconut Ralph, with

three of his closest friends Dan, Kal and Eric. He had a well-known love for Campbell’s

tomato soup; he could eat it for every meal if allowed.

He is survived by his 4 children: April Hudak, Michelle Shaltes, Daniel Shaltes, and

Emily Shaltes and her spouse Corey Jones. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren:

Sean, Kristin, Jessica and Lucas Hudak. Extended family also includes Shirlee (Nabers)

Shaltes. He is also survived by 5 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. He was

preceded in death by all four of his grandparents, his father Erwin Shaltes, and brother

Ronald Shaltes.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3001

Wissemann Drive, Sacramento CA on Friday February 20, 2026 at 1pm. Internment will

follow at Sacramento Memorial Lawn.

The family would like to thank the medical staff and nurses at Sutter Medical Center

Roseville for the compassionate and excellent care provided for Larry at the end of his

life. It was most appreciated by his family.
