Obituary of Lucille Mary Omand

Lucille Mary Omand of Sacramento passed away Sunday July 24, 2016 at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born in Miami, Oklahoma to Trula and Richard Reeder on May 25, 1925. During the Great Depression she and her family moved from the "Dust Bowl" to Sacramento, California. Lucille married James Omand in September 1942 and they had 3 children. Happy to be a homemaker, she enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, painting, and cooking. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing lively card games. Many days were spent barbequing in her vast backyard, swimming in the pool and conversing in the shade of the giant elderberry tree. In her later years she was a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital. Above all, she loved her family with whom she stayed very close until the end. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Omand Sr., grandson Brian Omand, sisters Hazel and Eva, and brother Richard. Lucille is survived by her children, James Omand Jr. (Katherine), Coleen Mosher (Richard Jr.), Jeffrey Omand (Diane), her grandchildren Steven Omand (Tami), Aerica Crowe (Danny), Amy Mosher, Richard Mosher III (JaNiece), Jarrett Omand, Jayme Omand, sister Ethel Kockinis and 9 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 4pm to 8pm Thursday, August 4, at Sacramento Memorial Lawn. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 5, at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd Sacramento, CA. A luncheon will follow at Elks Lodge #6 on Riverside Blvd. at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Okizu-Supporting Families with Childhood Cancer or your favorite charity.
