Obituary
Obituary of Joyce Christensen
Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1922, but living 80 years in
Sacramento, California, Joyce Christensen left peacefully from this
Earth, at the age of 99, in the early morning of October 17, 2021.
Loved deeply by her children, grandchildren, great and great-great
grandchildren, she will fondly be remembered as the kindest
person and to those who knew her best as the “Missouri Mule” for
the suborn tenacity by which she lived and faced life! She was
preceded in death by husbands Curtis Christensen, Ken Crain, and
Dean Larson. Joyce is survived by her daughter Cheryl and
husband Gale Nelson, Lisbon, WI; and son Keith and wife Rebekah
Christensen, Sacramento, CA. Joyce was blessed and loved by her grandchildren: Kelly and
husband Peter Weber, Napa, CA; Michael and Meaghan Christensen, Sacramento; Erica
Buckles, Sacramento; Gwen Nelson-Hibbard, Lake Tahoe; Gale Nelson II and wife Sarah, San
Antonio, TX; Gloria Nelson-Sleck and husband Tony, Lisbon, WI; and G Curtis Nelson and wife
Amber, Shingle Springs, CA; and a bountiful 23 great and great-great grandchildren!
During her career Joyce worked at Hobrecht Lighting, Scofield’s Furniture Store, Metropolitan
Life, Caltrans and DMV, but her penchant for design and making a house a home were lovingly
expressed in her Land Park home for 77 years. Joyce will forever live on in the hearts of her
family and friends. Services will be held on November 3rd at 11 AM at Sacramento Memorial
Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd. with viewing at 10 AM.
