Obituary of Philena Rebecca Warneke

Philena Rebecca Warneke, age 90, passed away March 12, 2022, peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born February 8, 1932, in Sacramento, California, to Jacob and Opal McCutchen and was the second of four children. She was a longtime resident of Sacramento. Philena and Russell Pierre Warneke (preceded in death) were married for 43 years until his death in December 2000.

Philena attended Sacramento High School and worked at Handy Andy, where she met and married her beloved Russell. Among other things, they loved dancing at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium on Friday nights.

Philena was a wife, mother, grandmother and home maker. She became an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards and solving cross-word puzzles. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She hoped that when you see a hummingbird, you think of her. We take peace in knowing that she is now in heaven with her family and friends who have gone before her.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Judy and Robert Elizarraraz, and Paul and Elaine Warneke. Also mourning her loss are her four grandchildren Kendalyn Goodwin (preceded in death), and Haley, Mackenzie and Lydiah Warneke as well as many friends she and Russell made over their lifetime.

A service will be held at the Sacramento Memorial Lawn Chapel, 6100 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95824, on April 16, 2022; visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., the service will begin at 12:45 p.m., with interment thereafter.
