Rafael Mercado

     November 14, 1934 - April 30, 2022

 Rafael Mercado was welcomed to heaven on April 30th, joining his parents Gregorio and Vidalina Mercado, beloved wife Alice, sons Ralph Jr. and Aaron, siblings Meline, Ramon and Carmin. Rafael leaves behind his wife Enery, sons Rick (Roxane), Kenneth (Della), Steven (Tracey) Ronnie and daughter Teri (Willie Gators). He is also the Grandfather of 16 and Great Grandfather of 21.

  Rafael was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico and growing up excelled in many sports. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17 and served during the Korean War. After serving for 2 years Rafael moved to Sacramento to join his parents. He worked for the next 32 in Civil Service at McClellan AFB retiring at the ripe old age of 52 years. Among his many passions were sports, camping, boating, playing cards and dominoes. Rafael coached little league baseball for many years. His greatest passion was for his family and friends. He loved to get together for any occasion. Rafael loved meeting people. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting him you may have been affectionately greeted with “my good friend “. Rafael was one of a kind and will be missed by all!
