Obituary of Maudie Juanita Jenkins

 

MAUDIE JUANITA (FULTON) GOODNIGHT JENKINS

 

Passed on June 13, 2022 in Elk Grove, CA. She was born on May 14, 1932 in McAlester, OK. Growing up, Maudie’s family had little and had to continuously move looking for work and a place to live. They left McAlester, OK and moved to Krebs, OK and in 1936 moved to Cass, AR in the Ozarks. They set up a camp on the side of the river. They moved back to Oklahoma and found work where they could. One winter they were forced to live in a railcar to get out of the winter weather. In the mid 40’s they moved to Tulare, California.

 

For most of Maudie’s life she was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting. Maudie also loved to travel. Later in life Maudie worked for her brother Carrel and then worked for the State before retiring. Maudie was very close to her family and always found comfort in her church and spending time with her “Church Ladies.”

 

Maudie is survived by her children Leslie Watkins, Karen Kost, Celeste Miller (David), and Timothy Goodnight (Annie), 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, her brother Carrol Fulton, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Maudie is preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Nute Fulton, her brothers Willie, Harlan, Roy, Clifford, Bobby: sisters Dorothy and Christine; granddaughter Kimberly; and husbands John, Cecil, and Earl.

 

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 24^th, 2022 at 11:00 AM, at Creekside Christian Church, 8939 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA. Interment to be held at Sacramento memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento,  CA .95824
