Obituary of William Dean Canary

Celebration of Life services for William Dean Canary, 85, will be held Wednesday, December 28,
2022 at the Sacramento Memorial Lawn.
William Dean Canary was born March 4, 1937, in Sacramento, CA to Virgil and Leone Canary
and passed away December 11, 2022 in Elk Grove, CA. William was known as Bill to his family
and friends.
Bill was raised in Sacramento and attended Sacramento Junior College before moving to San
Francisco where he met his lifetime friends Jim Taylor and Wayne Cowen. He served in the Air
Force Reserves with his training in Texas.
He had a successful career with State of California Air Resources Board and retired in 1995 after
38 years of service. He had an adventurous spirt for travel and loved time with family and
friends.
Bill is survived by sister Betty Bunker, sister Arlene Lamphere, brother Sonny Canary and sister
in-law Carol, and sister in-law Brenda Canary, friend Jim Taylor, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Virgil, mother Leone, brother Donald Canary and friend
Wayne Cowen.
