Obituary of Angie Mejia
Angie Mejia (maiden name Angelita Martinez), 70, of Elk Grove, California passed away on July 22, 2023, after a battle with cancer.
Angie was born on November 7, 1952, in Sacramento, California to Angel Lopes Martinez and Aurora Gonzales. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings Gloria, Margie, Michael, Rose, and Rachel. She has 3 surviving siblings Stela, Alfred, and Christina.
Angie and Juan Mejia met in the summer of 1974 at an Assembly of God Church in Sacramento. Their first encounter was standing side by side during a sermon and sharing her Bible. They got married on February 14, 1975 (Valentine’s Day) in Reno, Nevada. They raised 6 children, Eva, Tina, John, Enoch, Elias, and Isaac. She had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed their company.
Angie loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. When her children were young, she and her husband spent time camping and hiking. They visited many theme parks including Disneyland, Universal Studios, Marriotts Great America, and Six Flags. More recently, she and her husband enjoyed visiting antique shops.
Angie was a gifted and talented artist. She was good at crafting jewelry, she created necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. She used clay to make animal figures. She used her sewing skills to make dresses, decorate aprons with fancy designs. Her last project was putting together a dollhouse and its furnishings.
Angie loved gardening in the front and back yards. Family and neighbors often complimented her on her beautiful garden designs. She spent many hours watching pretty birds and hummingbirds eating from their feeders in the backyard.
Angie was a beautiful woman inside out. She gave her life to God at the age of 21 and served him faithfully for all her life. Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but they are happy that she is in heaven waiting for them.
