Martha Guajardo Kwong was born on May 31, 1965 and passed away on February 9, 2024 at the age of 58. She was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Sacramento where she would eventually start a family of her own. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Arthur, and her sister, Annette. She is survived by her husband, William Sr., children, Will Jr. (Reyna) and Evelyn (Tim), and grandkids (Marcelina, Miya, and Izekiel) along with seven siblings and countless cousins, nieces and nephews who adore her.
Martha had a green thumb and a flourishing garden to prove it. She spent many afternoons enjoying the fruits of her labor on her patio and loved to share plants and succulent cuttings. Martha was also known as the resident family photographer, preferring to be behind the camera rather than in front of it. She loved to take photos and create beautiful scrapbooks full of love and fond memories. She had an affinity for Doris Day movies and could never turn down a Hallmark original. Martha’s favorite time of year was Christmas. Sometimes her home would be decorated with not one or two but three Christmas trees, all themed differently, of course. For nearly 15 years, she and her sister, Evie, hosted an Ornament Exchange party where folks could gather to eat, laugh, and enjoy the magic of Christmas together. More than anything in the world, she loved her family. Martha was a fierce protector of the ones she loved. Many may refer to her as the glue that holds the family together or a second mother which speaks volumes about just how much her family loved her back. During her final days and hours, she was surrounded by the love of her husband, children, and family. She will be greatly missed and hold a special place in our hearts forevermore.
