Yao Kuang (Lo Wang) Saelee

October 1, 1956 - April 28, 2024

Yao Kuang Saelee passed away on April 28, 2024, in Sacramento, California. He was born on October 1, 1956 in Sayaboury, Laos to Meuy Ching Saelee and Wern Wang Saelee. He was the oldest son in a large family to 7 sisters and 3 brothers. In 1980, Yao Kuang along with his parents and siblings, were sponsored by an American family and arrived in Hillsboro, Kansas, where he eventually settled in Sacramento in 1984 and expanded his family. Yao Kuang also spent many years in Alaska as a security officer and restaurant chef. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and often times sharing his catches with family and friends.

Yao Kuang will be missed for the kindness and compassion he gave to all those in his life—his close family, relatives, and his many friends in the Mien community. He will be remembered most for his energetic presence during family celebrations and holidays, where he was the life of the party. He fulfilled his duties as the oldest son when he cared for his parents in the last years of their lives, and made sure they received a proper send off. He was truly the rock of the Saelee family and will be missed deeply by all those who loved him. He is survived by his 6 children, 8 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
