Obituary of Freida Anne Thorne
Freida “Anne” Thorne passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday,
December 15, 2024, in Sacramento, California.
Born on July 20, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Anne moved to Costa Mesa, California in the early 1970s where her father Fred’s new family, Katy, Kathy and the extended Stellmach family supported and loved her. She later moved to Sacramento, California in the early 1980’s where she spent the remainder of her life.
Anne met the love of her life, Michael Thorne shortly after moving to Sacramento. They were happily married in South Lake Tahoe, California. She had a wonderful life of 43 years with Michael, surrounded by her family and friends who adored her.
She loved to sing & dance and her favorite singer was Elvis. She would happily tell you she attended several of Elvis’ concerts. Anne had a passion for crocheting, teaching her two girls to love crocheting when they were just in grade school. She also loved to play games and cards with her family and played Bunco weekly with her friends. One of her very favorite things to do was to plan large family camp trips at Bear River Reservoir, preparing in great detail to ensure she had plenty of gear and food to accommodate all of her family.
Anne worked hard her entire life always in a caring capacity and sometimes carrying two jobs to raise her two girls by herself, as she became a widow when her girls were just seven and eight years old. She worked at Fairview State Hospital for years, a home for mentally and physically disabled children and adults. She then worked at a convalescent home caring for the elderly, and later worked at the State Board of Equalization, finishing out a twenty-five year career as a Program Technician.
She had an easy laugh & smile and a ready funny joke, bringing laughter and joy to those around her with her humor and warmth. A strong love of her family and huge caring heart always providing support for family and a friend in need.
Anne is survived and loved by her spouse of 43 years Michael. Her children Anita and her husband Ken of Rocklin, CA, Barbie and her partner Larry of Costa Mesa California, and her step-daughter Trisha and husband Stephen of Citrus Heights, California. Her brother Alan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her grand children Ambra, Tristan, Andrew, Nick and Ben and her great grandchildren Julia, Ryder and Reece.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Barbara, her sister, Linda and her husband Don. Her sister Carla and her brother Fred.
You will be forever loved and remembered in our hearts and we will cherish our memories through the years of each family gathering, our many family camp trips and the many times we simply shared quality time together.
Love and peace be with you in heaven and your next beautiful life journey.
