Please share a memory of Peggy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to Heaven Thursday evening, October 15, 2015. She was born September 22, 1925, in Compton CA. She moved to Sacramento in 1927. A good student in school, her parents allowed her to miss the fourth grade school year and travel to Japan and China by boat with her Uncle. She attended Sacramento High School 1940 - 43 where she met the love of her life Elmer Dennis. They married in 1946. She worked for the California Highway Patrol for five years then left her position to start a family. In 1951 she gave birth to her first son Hal who lived a very short, special life passing away at the age of six from Leukemia. She was a long time member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where she received tremendous support allowing her to get through the toughest period of her life. She served her community as Sunday School Superintendent at Gloria Dei and PTA President at Pacific Elementary School. She returned to work for the State in 1968 working for the Department of Criminal Justice and retired in 1988 with the Department of Health and Human Services. In 1983 she became a Grandmother with the birth of her first Grandson, Michael Andrews. In 1994, her second Grandson, Riley Dennis was born, and in 1997, her third Grandson, Christian Dennis was born. In retirement she was able to provide daycare for all three of her Grandsons. They will always know they had the best Grandma "straight out of Compton". In 2007, she became a Great Grandma to Emily Andrews and in 2013 to Isaac Andrews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Julia Murray, Father Hugh Davis, son Hal Dennis and husband Elmer Dennis. She is survived by son Robert, daughter Pam (Gary) Andrews, son Paul (Connie) and sister Joan Pine, nieces Terry, Kathy, Michelle and Patty.
