Sally Ann Scribner passed away peacefully on June 10, 2018. A lifelong resident of Sacramento, she was born to Grace (Dillon) and William “Les” Hood on April 22, 1925 and raised in Colonial Heights. Sally was very proud of Grace, one of the first female streetcar drivers in Sacramento. She married Loring Scribner, Jr. in 1946. In the early 1950s, Loring, Sally and their two oldest children, Lee “Terry” and Vance, moved to Honolulu where Loring worked as a mechanic for Hawaiian Airlines. They moved back to Sacramento and raised their family in the Land Park area. Loring loved to travel and he, Sally and their children traveled to Mexico City, Guadalajara and all over the U.S. in their station wagon and one of their many Airstream trailers. Sally worked for the State of California before retiring in the early 1980s after which she and Loring took frequent trips to Arizona during the winter months. Sally was a long-time member of the Time-Steppers, a group of tap dancing seniors that entertained convalescent home residents across Sacramento. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sally is survived by her children Vance and Lori Scribner and daughter-in-law Cindy (Modell) Scribner. Grandchildren Jodie Scribner, Jeff Saucedo, Erik Saucedo and Madison Stratton; great-granddaughter Jenessa Koski and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Loring Scribner, Jr. and daughter Terry Saucedo, brothers Bud and Tom and sister Beverly (Hood) Higginbotham. Service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at noon at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd. Viewing to be held on July 9 between 1-5pm. Service followed by graveside and reception.
