Obituary of Christine Louise Lewis

Christine Louise Lewis, 93, of Stockton, died in Vista, California, of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born January 23, 1918, in Seattle, Washington to Murdick John and Margaret Jane Lowney Smith. Chris, known to her family as Louise, graduated from Sacramento High School in 1935, and attended art school in San Francisco during World War II. She married George T. Lewis in 1941, and they lived together in Stockton and San Jose. They divorced after 29 years of marriage. Christine retired from Pacific Telephone company after 39 years of service. She enjoyed her work, and after retirement, moved back to Stockton. She also delighted in world travel. Italy was her favorite and often inspired her watercolor or oil art work. Chris was a member of the Delta Watercolor Society, and the Telephone Company Pioneers. She is survived by her daughter, Carol, and son in law Tom Spears, of Oceanside; by her grandson, Justin and his wife Jennifer of Lexington, Virginia; by her sister in law Ann Smith of Sacramento, sister Lillian Elaine Smith of Roseville, and brother in law William K. Tierney of Rocklin. Louise loved her sisters and brothers and always enjoyed time spent with them and with her many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local hospice organization. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 14, at 10 AM at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Boulevard, Sacramento, CA.
