Sumiko Yamanaka passed away at home on January 24, 2012 at the age of 83. Loving mother to Craig Yamanaka, Debra Iwamura (Alvin), Linda LaSalvia (Steve), Bryon Yamanaka, and Sandy Shimazu (Dwayne). Dearly beloved grandmother to four grandchildren, each with their own special name for grandma: Gruma to Jennifer, Bachan to Amber, Ampah to Jake and Kara, and Bachan to great-granddaughter, Lilly Ann. Survived by sister Peggy Sakai (Yosh) and brother Aki Iwatsuru (Beverly). Predeceased by husband Joe Yamanaka and brothers John, Bunji, and Shogo Iwatsuru. Family and friends are invited to funeral services at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2 pm. Viewing from 11-2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA, Asian Community Center, or charity of your choice .
