Obituary of Raymond Weispfenning

Raymond Weispfenning Raymond Weispfenning passed away peacefully May 15, 2018 in Elk Grove Ca. Born April 16, 1925 in rural Fredonia N.D. He was 93 yrs old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 yrs Louella Weispfenning, his parents Christian and Louisa Weispfenning, 3 sisters and 2 Brothers, Edna Weispfenning, Alma Buerkle, Frieda Buerkle, Ted Weispfenning and Cliff Weispfenning. Raymond enlisted in the Army serving during WW2 in the Philippines, and Japan. He was recipient of the Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. He married Louella Billigmeir in 1947 they had 2 daughters Karla, and Raelene. In 1951 he left the family farm in N.D. and moved to California, settling in Sacramento. He was hired by Campbell Soup Company where he worked for 35 yrs. Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in his younger years. He was also quite the handyman there didn't seem to be anything that Raymond couldn't fix or build, and he loved doing this for his family and friends. After retiring he enjoyed traveling to visit family in N.D. Later in his elderly years he enjoyed walking sometimes up to 4 miles at 90 yrs old. He is survived by daughters Karla Simmons (Sonny) Fernley Nv. Raelene Gisler (Otto) of Elk Grove, Ca. 4 Granddaughters Sunni Leggate (Iain) Stormi Simmons and Partner (Jerome Bernard) Jenna Orlandella (Adam) Tara Quackenbush (Michael) 7 Great Grandsons Christian McPheeters Anthony Freeberg Caleb Freeberg Eli Quackenbush Logan Bernard Asher Orlandella Jaxon Quackenbush and 2 Great Granddaughters Kaylee Leggate and Hayden Orlandella. Visitation will be 4:00PM - 8:00PMThursday May 24, 2018 at Sacramento Memorial lawn. Services will be 1:00PM, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Sacramento Memorial Lawn 6100 Stockton Blvd Sacramento Ca.95824.
