Obituary of Juan Llacar Luz

Juan Llacar Luz Born January 10th , 1929, peacefully passed away on April 15th , 2014 at home in the presence of his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife Tredelina Luz, oldest son Jonathan Luz and wife Jacqueline, youngest son Jonel Luz and wife JoAnne, and Son-in-Law Alan Howard, along with his loving grandchildren Daniel Luz, Jibril Howard, Marlina Luz, and Courtney Revada-Luz. Juan was preceded in death by his daughter Joan Luz-Howard. Born in Laoag City, Philippines the youngest of 9 siblings, Juan emigrated to the US and became a citizen. He studied and graduated from San Francisco City College with a degree in accounting. He started his raising his family in San Francisco and was a civil employee of the city. He moved his family to Sacramento in 1981 where resided until his passing. He was a supervisor of the general services department for the mail room located inside San Francisco City Hall when he retired in 1994. Upon his retirement, then Mayor Frank Jordan proclaimed November 16, 1994 as Juan Luz Day in San Francisco for his 25 years of civil service employment and accomplishments he has received. He enjoyed jazz music and was a part of his family band, growing up playing the saxophone. His most enjoyable hobby was his summer garden of vegetables he planted every year for his family and friends to enjoy. Viewing: Friday, April 25th , 2014 starting at 4PM - 8PM with a Rosary starting at 6:30PM at Sacramento Memorial Lawn on Stockton Blvd. Funeral Service: Saturday, April 26th , 2014 at St. Mary's Parish on 58th Street starting at Noon. Interment: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with reception to follow after wards.
