Jose Zamarripa, 96, passed away in his home on December 9, 2019, after living in the Sacramento CA area for the last 64 years. Born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Jose immigrated to the United States in 1945 and eventually settled in Bakersfield, CA, Where he met and married his wife of 49 years, Elisa Martinez, and later moved to Sacramento in 1955. Jose had four children including Raquel, Carlos (Connie), Rafael and Elsa (Luis), six grandchildren Erica, Zachary, Anthony, Carli, Alejandra and Arturo and nine great grandchildren. He lived with his daughter Elsa and her family (Tovar) of Elk Grove and in their loving care for nearly 20 years of the last years of his life. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Manuel and Francisco of Mexico and Antonio of Sacramento; two sisters Maria and Evangelina of Mexico, wife Elisa and daughter Raquel. Jose worked for Campbell’s Soup Co. for 25 years and ran a lawn care service mostly in the Land Park area. Jose was a hard-working cowboy and a love of animals, especially horses. He was a member of the Sacramento Charros Association and often showcased his horsemanship and roping skills and many parades in the Sacramento Area.
