Obituary for BRIAN SCOTT HOWARD-STEPP Brian Scott Howard-Stepp was born to Linda K. Howard and Bishop Timothy G. Stepp on December 15, 1967 in Sacramento, CA. He received his formal education at Luther Burbank High School and Sacramento City College. While attending high school he was voted Vice President of Production at the Rio Americano Chapter of the Junior Achievement Club, an organization dedicated to developing students. It provides hands on experience in entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy. Brian found the position to be an honorable, exciting, and humbling experience. Brian accepted Christ as his Savior shortly after graduating from high school. As a child Brian fell in love with all things automotive, especially race cars. He was a frequent fixture at the Sacramento Raceway. He was mentored in the art of drag racing by Joe Sadler and Sons and the late great Leroy Philson of the legendary Mighty Mouse teams. Brian was a member of the Ground Zero car club that specialized in Cameros, his favorite was the Camero IROC. Although a die-hard Chevy man, he became known for his red Chrysler 300. Later in life Brian became a fan of NASCAR with #24 Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. Sports was a major part of Brian's life. He played football for the pop warner team South Sacramento Vikings. Brian played so hard he often landed in the emergency room after his games. The ER staff often joked about creating a standing appointment for him as he frequently suffered an injury during his football games. Following in his uncles Kevin and Eric Jones' footsteps, he was the second generation to play baseball each spring at Airport Little League. Not only was Brian a football and baseball player, he was also a gifted golfer and had the honor of playing with his Grandfather's clubs while a part of the Luther Burbank's High School golf team. A man of many talents, Brian used his skills in a variety of occupations including: welding, shipping, auto repair and commercial truck driving, but he found his true calling in the grocery industry. He spent much of his professional career at Winco foods starting as a stocker and eventually working his way up to department manager. Brian had an infectious smile and a sense of humor that could lift any spirit. Brian was well known for his funny jokes and spirited personality. He cared deeply about others and was an animal lover. On June 6, 2016, Brian was called home to join the family circle of those who have gone on before him. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Milton M. Jones, Henry M. Howard, William and Georgia Stepp; Uncle Kevin Jones and Aunt Pam Howard. Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory are his Mother Linda K. Howard; Grandmother Glora Jones; Sisters, Tamiko Stepp and Traci Howard-Richards; Uncle Eric Jones; Cousins Monroe Howard-Shackelford and Renee Stepp; Nephew Adae and Niece Aamani. Great Aunts Lola Taylor and Wilma Williams. Brian brought together the Howard-Sowell, Stepp-Thames, Douglas Ward and the Work-Jones families which will all miss him dearly because to Brian family was everything.
