Obituary of Katherine Denotra Newborn

born April 30, 1925 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the union of Monroe and Emma Wilson. She passed away peacefully on August 28, 2012 at the age 87 in Sacramento California. She was preceded in Death By her husband, Jesse B. Newborn; her father & mother, Monroe & Emma Wilson, sisters Jimmie Mae Bender & Rachel Smith; brother, Marcus Wilson; sons, Erskine Hobbs & Jesse Newborn, Jr. and daughter-in-law Gayle Newborn. Katherine graduated from Benson, High School in Mississippi. She moved to Sacramento, California in 1952, where she met and married her husband Jesse Newborn. She worked for Commercial & American Building Maintenance along side her husband. Katherine was known for her work ethics, she was the first one to rise in the morning, worked various part-time jobs and last one to go to sleep at night. Katherine retired from American Building Maintenance in 1987 after 20+ years of service. Katherine's number one priority was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. There was never a time where Katherine's home wasn't filled with family and friends. She welcomed everyone into her home and made them feel like part of the family. One of the things she liked most was entertaining family & friends. She loved to cook and was known for her great meals. She loved to sit outside and work in her garden. She loved roses and planted them all around her home. Her favorite pass time was to sit down with a hot cup of coffee and watch one of her favorite shows or movie. She leaves to cherish her memories; sisters, Tenny Boykin of Sacramento and Elizabeth Hackman of Texas; Children, Linda (Mike) Bistline; Anita (James) Wilson; Veronica (Oliver) McLemore; Darldeen (Duane) Reed; Jacquelyne Hobbs; Terri (Tee) Newborn; Janelle (Donald) Newborn-Vincent and Gregory Newborn. Twenty grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, close relatatives & friends who will carry her spirit of love and family.
