Obituary of Josephine "Josephine Marez Ortiz" Ortiz

Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born December 17, 1938, to Rosa Gutierrez and Placido Solis in Rio Honda, Texas. Her maternal grandparents were Antonia & Marcelino Gutierrez. On June 28, 1945, her mother fled Texas on Southern Pacific Company train with Josie and her eldest brother Tony. They arrived in Los Angeles, transferred in San Francisco before settling in Sacramento on Bannon Street. Manuel, Rosa's 2nd born, stayed in Texas with her mother and sister Hermania. Rosa had Connie in 1946, twins Mary Lou & Joe Louie Perez in 1948. Her mother worked outside the home, and Josie raised her three younger siblings. She was like a mother figure to the three of them. Tony also provided for the family home. Josie had seven children: Thomas, Robert, Diana, David, Linda, and Michael Marez, and Ralph Cordero; Grandchildren Mike Gloria, Alecia, Teena, and Isa Hernandez, and Inez Marez; Great grandchildren Michael and Samuel Pierce, Priscilla, Hugo, and Hector Oseguera, and Sofia Hernandez. And a host of relatives and friends. She was employed as an LVN in Oncology at Mercy General Hospital for over three decades. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, and cleaning while listening to Vicente Fernandez. She enjoyed eating. Even if she wasn't hungry, she still ate. She also enjoyed her children's many friends.
