Obituary of Frances Masae Matsuda

A devoted matriarch who loved to entertain guests, she died on May 12, 2011 at her home in Sacramento, CA. She was born April 13, 1920, and lived for 91 years. She was born in Florin, CA, as the second of three children. She married Mitsugu Matsuda on Dec. 27, 1941 and was preceded in death by her husband, Mitsugu, and son, Victor; survived by her daughter, Susan and many relatives. She will greatly be missed. Frances and her husband operated the Big Buy Market for 28 years where she was instrumental in making some of the best sandwiches in town and that drew a loyal crowd of lunch goers. The Matsudas were also active in the local Japanese American community. A private memorial service was held May 15, 2011 at the Gedatsu Church.
