Obituary of Krishna Reddy

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on November 9, 2013 at the age of 83. Krishna was born in Barara, Fiji and received his high school edu- cation at Dilkusha Boy's school in Nausori (South East, Fiji). After high school he joined the family sugarcane business to work & manage the farms. Later he branched out and acquired income properties in Lautoka, Fiji. In 1968 he immigrated to South San Francisco and worked for United Airlines SFO as a maintenance operator. In 1971 he moved to West Sacramento where he resided for 42 years. During this time he purchased the Flagstone Motel with his wife. He built the business up and ran it with his family for 42 years. He was a dedicated leader who served as President of the West Sacramento Hotel/Motel Association from 1995-2012 and became the driving force behind the concept and construction of the Sangam Hall in West Sacramento. Aside from his family, soccer was Krishna's passion. He played professionally for the Nadi, Fiji team from 1955-56 and then for the Lautoka, Fiji team from 1957-1967. He was part of the first team to tour internationally in 1960 to New Caledonia. He was one of the founding members of the Sacramento United Fiji Soccer Club that was formed in 1974. Krishna was also part of Sacramento Sangam, where he played and coached in many soccer events. He also coached recreational soccer for kids during the 1980's in West Sacramento. Krishna was known for always helping others, and he loved his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the uncanny ability to deliver a sarcastic comment or light hearted joke at just the right time. He loved watching many sports, especially soccer and football. He was an avid 49ers fan and never missed a game. He was the heart and soul of the Reddy family and will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila, son Rajesh, daughter Rima (Ray), grandchildren Adrianna and Jesh, sister, brother, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Preceding him in death are his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
