She was born June Junko Kojima on June 19, 1937 in Sacramento. She died June Junko Coats on December 28, 2016 in Elk Grove. June spent her 5th birthday on her way to the Tule Lake Internment Camp and spent the next three years there. After graduating from Sacramento High School, June diligently spent the next 37 years working at the Board of Equalization. Volunteering was a passion of June's, particularly at the California Museum and the Elk Grove School District. She was an active member of the Sheldon Community Association and enjoyed attending classes at the Elk Grove Sr. Center. June is survived by husband Don, daughters Joanne & Roxanne, son Michael, 6 grandkids, 7 great grandkids & 2 great-great grandkids. A memorial service will be held at the Sacramento Memorial Lawn at 6100 Stockton Blvd. at 11:00am on January 6, 2017, reception to follow at the Tenrikyo Sacramento Church at 6361 25th St., Sacramento. June will be greatly missed by many.
